“Highway 57 Mexico. Jackie. The pickup truck looked like it wasn’t going to stop. It slowed down to a crawl, then began daintily maneuvering around the shattered plastic and spilled oil. I rolled once or twice, bumping my bony elbows painfully, and lay there, working my mouth like a fish out of water.
