“Most of the members were closer to his father’s age than his. When his colleagues were in each other’s company, many of them felt it was their sacred duty to flaunt whatever wealth they had achieved. Out on a job site, they weren’t so bad. He would run into them from time to time, dressed informally, caps set firmly on graying heads, clipboards and portfolios in one hand while they tapped out the next cigarette with their other. Too busy to prove anything, they were good for a chat or a laugh o...r a beer. But more than beer flowed at these gatherings, and as Cash pulled to a stop at the lodge, he warned Jamie.
